Received an upgrade Disc today for my Land Rover Freelander 2 from an Internet site Satnavi (trying to do it on the cheap - big mistake). I followed the instructions and put the disc in with the engine running and left it in for 25 mins (the instructions did say it could take 15 mins to load) and although at approx 30 second intervals the screen went into the Land Rover screen saver for a second and then returned to the Home menu nothing else happened. Having waited 25 mins I eventually turned the engine off and tried again but this time I got no installation message.
To make matters worse I decided to put my original disc into the unit but I get no navigation. The settings icon works but the Navigation icon is not functioning. Can anyone give me some advice on getting my original disc to work.

Hi Thanks for the suggestion which I have tried but still can't find an answer to getting my old disc to work. There is one warning people not to buy from Satnavi but unfortunately I was not using the site when I purchased the disc. It was interesteing to read his post and he does state that after much trouble he did get his original disc working but does not state how. The post was from a junior member aingarth. Is it possible to contact members direct to see how they solved the problem?

I had the same problem with a Satnavi disc. I disconnected both of the battery cables, left them disconnected for 10 minutes, then held them together for about 30 seconds and then reconnected the battery. Putting on the positive (red) cable first and the negative (black) cable last. This seemed to kind of solve solve the problem as far as the navigation is concerned, but I am still having issues with my radio.

Thanks. I have disconnected my battery etc and am pleased to say that at least my original 2007 Landrover disc is now working. I have tried to upgrade again with my Satnavi disc but no success albeit they did send me a new disc when I explained my installation problems. I think I am just going to have to buy the new Land Rover discs but at £169 it does seem a bit expensive. Have asked Satnavi for a refund but no success yet.

This was one of the top threads when I searched for info about updating my Sat Nav in my 2007 Freelander 2, I took a punt on Satnavi (£49.95 for 4 Disc set) and using Disc 2 (the UK one) it updated in less than fifteen minutes and seems to work fine, popped it in setting off from work and a notification about a software update was displayed, I pushed ok and it was done about 12 minutes later.

I know, new member hardly any posts, it's an honest statement though and I just wasn't about to pay the main dealer price. I can verify my identity if asked!

Hi
I have had a similar experience. Tried to save money. I can no longer use sat nav, original genuine discs will not install (no software update message appears now).
Can anyone tell me how to restore my system with my genuine 2007/08 discs please????
Pulling my hair out!!!

Hi all. Well I have now restored my Satnav now. I purchased 2012 full set of discs from EBay fir £49.95, then when received I carried out a battery default reset on my FL2 (this involved removing both battery leads for at lest 10 minutes and touching them together before re-connecting). Then placed disc with engine running for about 15mns and hey presto! All working.
