Freelander 2 docking Station

Hi not sure of there is a thread already all i can find is about tge key. My actual docking station is playing up and takes some faffing about to get the key out so it doesn't think its still in there ive came to the conclusion i need a new dock but i got the feeling it needs coding to the car?

The key dock is officially known as the Start Control Module.
Yes a replacement needs to be configured to the keys, and the rest of the vehicle systems.

Thanks for the reply. That may help my search on this. I had a feeling it would need to be would you happen to know if i bought a used unit with keys would that neeed programming cheers

The official LR line would be that a new Start Control Module must be used, but I suspect a second hand unit could be configured to work with the keys and vehicle. I've configured a second hand Engine Control Module (ECM) on mine, which again LR said must be a new unit. However I configured a used unit, at home, using my JLR SDD.

Unfortunately you would normally need to use an LR independent garage with LR dealer level diagnostic equipment (JLR SDD), or an LR main dealer, who would only fit a new unit anyway.

Sounds as the best way would be a new unit coded to the car keeping original keys then as could code all that up then fail in a few months with limited warranty
