Freelander 2 - bike carrier help!

This is is my first post here.

I just got my Freelander today (F2, 59 plate) and love it.

I need to be able to cart around our bikes (3 adult, 1 child) and the only option I've seen so far is the towbar mounted one. However, I don't have a towbar...

Does anyone have any advice? The roof is too high for me to consider a roof-mounted option, and my last car (VW Passat) was fiddly when it came to mounting the bikes up there.

If a towbar is the best option, how easy is it for the kack-handed to fit?

Remove the bumper.

Bolt up the towbar.

Cut out the bumper.

Rebuild.



If you want towing electrics on they need programming.
