Freelander 1auto, reverse gear problem.

Good morning all. The reverse gear stopped working in my freelander 1 automatic. The forward are working fine. Can anyone share some insight..

Reverse brake band is a known week point.

Recent threads cover the reverse band failure.
Not sure if a DIY repair is yet documented.
I'll try and find the thread.

That is a good example of that problem.

Should be said as well that reverse often goes because a fluid change has been done and the wrong bolt has been removed to check the level. eg...

It's a shame that Jatco didn't stick to using the hex headed bolt for level checking in the later models as I'm sure it would make people double check before removing anything (that's why I asked on here a year ago before I removed anything). I'm sort of pleased in a perverse way mine went after we got back off holiday but still a waste of 400 mile old oil .
