i found a broken band so that was the -no reverse-problem, thanks for all your help

Good that you found it.

If you could take some photos and show how to replace the band that would help others. It appears to be a weakness in the Jatco box.

yes i tried to put the photos but doesnt work, mecanics is no problem for me but informatique is,
and i already closed up the box, tomorrow i will try to get the engine back in

To add a photo use the "Attach files" button in the left bottom corner of the box that you write in, then go to where they are and click. When upload has finished choose "Add thumbnail" and then they will be visible in your message.

Change the camera settings on your phone to lower resolution, so the files are smaller. If you're using iPhone make sure it's set for "Most Compatible" and not high efficiency.

Or use a website like this to resize them !

I've seen that before. The reverse brake band on these is a week point. Glad it's sorted.

Exactly the same break on my son’s TD4. Seems quite common in the Jatco.

there are two types, one short and one longer with 3 rivets,the short one broke on the rivet, so i put the longer in

How did you get at it? Is it fairly near the outside?? Go in from the torque converter end or the driveshaft end??

They do a heavy duty band, not sure if that relates to the 'longer one' you fitted. Good work.

from the converter side, not that difficult, i changed also all the oil seals and a new filter, i think it must be the heavy
duty band

i'm sure its a very difficult job if you do it with axle stands, the box is very heavy,
