Freelander 1 vibration got me baffled

Hi I have a 2.0di freelander 1 it's got a terrible vibration and shudder at between 1500-2000 rpm mainly in 4th gear it also has a lot of vibration through the pedals , there's no props so in 2wd , upto now I've changed drop links , bottom ball joints , driveshafts , different transfer box , clutch , tyres , track rod ends but nothing seems to made any difference , I've been to several garages and no one knows what could be causing it , I'm at the point do I pay the dealers my mortgage or simply get rid any help would be greatly apreciated
 
Id reckon the most likely cause and I'm surprised noone else has jumped on it yet...

Are you sure the missus vibrator didn't roll out of her handbag and under the seat??

Has she been distinctly more agitated of late?:suspicious:
 
It can be felt in all gears but more so in 4th and the more load on the engine the worse the vibration if I go up past 2000rpm really gently there's not much vibration
 
Sounds to me more like (I don't know Freelanders) a transmission bearing going .. which I suppose could be anywhere from wheel bearings to diff pinion bearings to gearbox bearings. I'd remove props and try to wiggle the diff inputs and gearbox outputs .. do Freelanders have a central prop bearing and coupling too? Most normal Bearings should have NO movement to them other than the rotation of the shaft going through them .. if any shafts can move up and down, or 'click' so there's movement that isn't enough to see then that's possibly causing vibration! ;)
 
The propshaft to the back has been removed and both driveshafts are new had it on the ramps this morning and had a listen while it was ticking over and the gearbox was making a noise as if there was a dry bearing inside it at the back of the box nearest the wheel

do these have a DMF fitted to them.i had this problem on my audi.turned out it was the DMF failing.

... and did you check the output bearings and wheel bearings when you put the driveshafts on? Just 'cos they're new (how old?) doesn't mean they're not already fecked ..
 
Had a similar problem with one of these and it was bottom engine mount/tie bar. You can check by trying to rock the engine back and forth.
