Hi All,
I would like to change my tyres to off-road types and could do with some information regarding sizes
I have 17" rims so would like to know what size would fit nicely,I'm into higher profiles so may need to change to 16"?
The tyres on there now are quite low profile and every pothole I hit is horrendous.
many thank G.

First off, be aware that the Freelander doesn't need aggressive off road tyres in order for it to perform well off road. These types of tyres might be OK on mud, but are truly hideous on the road. They are noisy, affect the handling and make braking a game of chance, and they're rubbish on snow and ice too. Also the off road ability isn't all down to the tyres, it's the lack of ground clearance, which really hampers progress off road.

A good quality AT is all the Freelander needs, to get it anywhere that it's low body can cope with. Yokohama AT 015 will get you anywhere you need to go, without compromising on road driving enjoyment, handling or grip.
Fitting 225/65/17 Yoko AT 015 is a good compromise, giving a small increase in ride height, more compliance in the sidewall, and better speedometer accuracy, without affecting the gearing too much. ;)

Many Thaks
That's absolutely fine as long as those 225 65 16 fit under there, your right I don't need anything to aggressive
I'm looking for a 3 door auto with a removable top to start my project vehicle

225/65/17 fit fine on the standard 17" rims. No need to change the rims to the smaller 16" size. ;)
I found the Freelander drives beautifully on 235/55/18, which is what mine had until I sold it.
