Hi everyone. Recently I bought a nice Freelander 1 2.5v6 auto gearbox. Soon after that I noticed that in the mornings when I start driving the car goes into limp mode and I can drive only in 4th gear throwing F4+ hill descent error on the dash.Also first gear and reverse are operational and that's it! Everything goes back to normal when I reignite the car i.e when the engine warms up. Went to autogearbox mechanic for a fluid change and diagnostic too.
The following errors have been found:

P0758- B shift solenoid short circuit to ground or battery;
P0763- C shift solenoid short circuit to ground or battery;
P0748- Line pressure duty solenoid open circuit, short circuit to ground or battery;
P1605- EEPROM error flag set;
P0734- 4th gear ratio out of range;

They told me that some errors might be old one and advised me to come again for additional check whenever this happens again. Also they said it might be the main computer problem , a thing that can not be fixed and need to be replaced so I am pretty scared now and almost out of budget for repairs since I spend lots for the cat repairs already.
Would appreciate any second opinion and comment.
Warm Regards.

I'd be checking the electrical connectors for the gearbox. These are known to suffer bad connections, corrosion and disconnection.

It's unlikely to be the TCM (gearbox control module), as they are very reliable.
They're also not expensive second hand on Ebay UK, and not heavy so shipping shouldn't be too expensive.

Thank you for the advice. Will do that first and share the experience afterwards.

Thank you for your video Hippo. However, I have just changed ( only 5 liters) the gearbox fluid and seems everything is fine....for now:)

If it works when it warms up would this mean it is more likely to be fluid related , rather than solenoid or wiring ?

A partial change of fluid can sometimes work wonders. Just checking... you set the fluid level with the engine running on tick over?

I don't know how they did it, I went to a specialist. I also asked them if they will use Texaco N402 fluid or equivalent , and they just said, don't worry we are familiar with the gearbox . I paid 70 pounds only in my Country, thanks God they are not charging as per in UK.
But more problems arises every day with this car. Lastly I had leaking from the sunroof and I put silicon all over the edges ,but without much success. Is it possible to leak from the roof rails??
I am thinking to apply car wrap folie all over, maybe it will stop leaking.

Are the drain holes for the sunroof blocked? That's what i would look at first. Tip some water down to see how quick it drains.
