I received my new tensioner and a Britpart PQS100851 belt this morning. The belt being the correct one listed by the merchant for an L-series with air con. When it arrived I checked the belt markings and noticed immediately the old one was a 6PK1463 whilst the new one 6PK1462.

Changed the tensioner this afternoon, new belt wouldn't go anywhere near on so put the old one back on for now.

I've only fitted Gates's belts in the past but bought this one just because I was ordering the tensioner and it put me over the £55 for free delivery.

Anyone here had problems with a 6PK1462 aka Britpart PQS100851 ?

Going to my local factor tomorrow morning for a Gates belt as taking it for a new VCU in the afternoon.

Oh, and I checked Gates website and they list 6PK1463 for this vehicle!

I think you will find that people on here have a problem with Britpart, period!! You clearly have the wrong belt. Simple as. Send it back and get a belt that isn't Britpart. There are reports on here where the aux belt snapped on an L-series, tore threw the timing belt cover, taking the timing belt with it and caused a very expensive valve / piston collision. Don't risk the cheapo parts, get a good one.
 
Good work Hippo. Keep to the genuine parts if you can. I changed my aux belt recently. Power steering still slips occationally and there is a good reason. The belt is only contacting about 20-25% of the pump pulley by design. Great considering that this also drives the coolant pump.....
 
Will email the merchant to explain but might be as well to bin the Britpart belt as a refund on that will drop my spend to £53 then I'll have to pay delivery. By the time all done I would only be £3 better off for my hassles.

I've never had any problems with Gates belts, top quality stuff.

I know the Landrover part No PQS100851 but my issue is that I believe Britpart have incorrectly cross referenced the size.
 
Don't see why you should pay the postage now, they cocked up, not you. Stand your ground with them.

Too busy yesterday but will email them about this.

Bought a Gates 6PK1463 from local factor yesterday and went straight on... nuff said.

On a side, had new VCU fitted yesterday. Apart from the fact I'd been front wheel drive for a week, what a difference. Enjoyed the full lock experience with no skipping.
 
I recently replaced my auxiliary belt on my FL1 2.0 TD4 am I mistaken or should there be some kind of cover that protects the lower part of the belts ?
 
There isn't on my L Series diesel. It does though have the undertray and plastic panels closing off the wheel arches. Don't know about the TD4, but I guess not cos people keep saying to peer down for speckles of metal grinding off the pulley.

There should be side screens in the wheel arches, which close tight to the sump guard. There's no way to see the belts from the side or below with the screens and guard in place. It sounds like you're missing these parts. Can you post pictures?

Yes. The side screen is missing. There should be one both sides of the car, so the engine and gearbox can't be seen from the wheel arches.

Here's a partial picture (marked with a red dot). It's not a full image of the side screen as it extends forward out of shot.

Thanks Nodge m8 that photo is very useful now I need to find one I suppose you dont have a part number ? Ill try a couple of scrap yards here in spain but dont hold out much hope. If not I will try making one. Im new to this forum but its great as are your posts they are extremely helpful.
 
These are definitely the types of things to get from scrap yards. I doubt you can get them new, and if you could they'd be hugely expensive.

When you get them, make sure you get the 3 bolts on each one that fix them at the top - they look pretty uniqueish - the bottom just has lips that hold it in position over the undertray frame.
 
Thank you I'm on the hunt starting Monday. I might be in luck as I'm told the local one has 2 x freelander 1 so fingers crossed
