Hi all !
We'll seeing that I haven't been here in a while ! I'll take this chance to say happy new year to all. Now down to business. Ok I'm looking to raise my freelancer 1 suspension just for general off road driving nothing extream. So what's the best kit I can use ? Is it hard to fit ? Cost and best place to get it . Thanks for any help uses can give me.

Have you had a look in the Gaylander section?

There's at least a post a week... :boxing:

Have a look at SES88 's profile.

Where did you mention a snorkel?

Ah ok you have me their :eek
Well i meant to add I'm looking for a snorkel kit to suit my freelander 1 TD4
2001 year. And have looked high and low. Can anyone help ? And yes I have tried the search option !!!

Speak to Mantec, see if they have any snorkels left, failing that, there's a couple of raised air intakes left, which can have custom pipework made up to make it waterproof

Although if you want a snorkel for actual wading, you'll find lots of things break before the engine takes a drink

The way to stop them floating is to remove the doors before getting your feet wet.

( look out the tratter boys will make some comment about not needing to as they will fall off)!

Ok guys all laughing and jokeing aside I would love some good genuine advice on how I can upgrade my 2001 freelander 1 TD4 3door. So that it looks good but still can do some general off-roading too. My ideas so far are as follows : A 2 inch lift kit and bearmach camber pins to go with. 1 set of cooper discoverer AT3 tyres 215/70/R16 the rims are a problem which I can't find at the minute any help would be great ?? I would like a set of 17x 6 black modular steel rims their on 4x4 tyres but not sale for freelander. Next on my list is a freelander bonnet pod with 4 55watt spot lights have to see where I'm going :D
I would love to put a snorkel on it too but not really for river crossing more just for looks. Again I'm having huge problems in finding one. And yes I have done a search on the forum.
Have a roof rack and 4 spots.
So what do uses think good ? Bad ? Any ideas on how to better what I'm thinking without buying a defender  I had one which I rebuilt a good few years back before some plank wrote me off :violent: anyway any help would be great.

A 2 inch lift kit and bearmach camber pins to go with. - good start

1 set of cooper discoverer AT3 tyres - tyres are very much a matter of personal choice.

215/70/R16 tyres need 16 inch rims... Standard ones will be wide enough.

17x 6 black modular steel rims seem a odd size. Freelander modular are 16x7.

bonnet pod with 4 55watt spot lights if that's what you want...

snorkel - just for looks. I know where you are coming from! Not much choice at a purely asthetic price!

That is the usual list and will sort you out for some off-roading. Don't forget your recovery gear and the rest of the just in case equipment.

Cheers for the advice. I was thinking of trying to find if their is even such one as a winch bumper or if not a bulbar that could take a winch ! What do you think or do you know of any ?

Bear in mind that the "Bearmach"camber pins are actually Monroe pins, do a search on the internet for the monroe pins and you won't have to pay Bearmach's markup

I gave you advice on the lift kits the other day

Can't fault my Cooper AT3's

Modulars are 16x7, especially if you want to fit 16" AT3's

Bonnet pods, there's been some people posting about them and the quality (or lack thereof) of them on here before!

Snorkel, if Mantec haven't got any, you'll have to find a second hand one. Or I can sort you out with an aero raised air intake...if its just for looks, you don't even have to connect it up!

Ok, so you can't seem to find anything by doing a search..................so I suppose I'll have help you.
Is this the sort of stuff you are after ??

It all depends what you want to do with yer Freelander. A standard Freelander can do a lot if it's got traction control. Just changing the tyres to AT's allows you to do this:

Bala 4x4 Land Rover Freelander 1 v6 Off Road
