Free Land Rover Experience vouchers in return for your time on a student project

Hello all!

I'm a student at Imperial College in London and I'm working with the R&D people at Jaguar Land Rover to try and understand what customers really want in terms of off-road features and capabilities in the Range Rover. I would like to interview and observe 10 people with a L322 or L405 Range Rover and whom use them regularly off-road or non-urban terrain.

This work has been commissioned by Nigel Clarke, head of the All Terrain Vehicle Mega Project at JLR. These guys were responsible for the Driverless Bonnet, Remote Control and Laser guidance tech on the latest Discovery concept.

The insights generated by my work will potentially be used in developing new capabilities in future RR models. This is your chance to get your say in the development process.

In return for a couple of hours of your time, each participant will receive a free voucher for the London/Luton Land Rover Experience Centre worth £225.

I would like to conduct the research in October. So if you have an L322 or L405 RR, use it off road and are free in October please let me know!

Dont think you've done your homework either

You'll never find anyone one with a post 05 RR that uses them off road, if you did i;d be surprised,

People who do are Disco users and Defender owners,

Urgent call for P

I appreciate its a big ask. You are quite right that the majority of owners don't use the vehicles to their full potential and in addition the cost of these vehicles makes taking them off road a "clench your butt cheek" kind of situation.

I am quite flexible in terms of requirements. Ultimately its a chance for the customer to have their say on the future of the RR and get a fun day of off-roading out of it in a top-of-the-range vehicle from Land Rover.

You best bet to get people in on this is to go to horse trials, and ask directly,

Reason why the vast majority of members on here dont have a Post 05 RR is that their just not serviceable by your average Joe,

To top up the gearbox oil you have to remove the entire body on a Disco 4, most D3's are being crippled by high service costs, takes someone with a lot of hands on experience to sort out the problems that are coming with the newer range of vehicles,

I am quite flexible in terms of the people I'm looking to speak to. The All Terrain Vehicle Mega Project is a cross-model effort. Any new features developed are likely to be deployed to a number of vehicles.

Dont think you've quite got it yet, if all the members here cashed in their Land Rovers to Webuyanoldtat.com, between us we may be able to buy one new LR product, personally I wouldn't buy a new motor for three reasons, regardless of the extra add ons. The old models cope just fine without all the three letter abbreviation 'Improvements'

1. Cost
2. Cant work on them no more
3. Waste of money

Go to Eastnor Castle once a year for a LRE,

Although I suspect this year will be the last,

Always asked to go in a Defender over the newer models,

On this forum you;ll only get enthusiasts, and we tend to keep out motors going until something serious goes wrong,

Horsey people tend to have new RR's, as do Chelsea schools, best bet to talk to RR's target market is going to events where these people are going to be at,

We're not all horsey people or residents of Chelsea.

Mind you, I wouldn't buy an L405.

What do you mean by waste of money? Would you always opt for a less complex model every time? Do you think that the driver aids aren't very useful?

You'll have to hook up with the super rich of America to find someone who drives one of the newer Range Rovers off road. I know a couple who do. It's usually on an adventurous whim in Colorado or Utah.

The biggest thing that they want is a closer dealership so their help can get back to the estate sooner after dropping the car off to get it fixed. They feel this way even if they don't take it off road.

Mate, I'm on my 5th Land Rover, always bought from Honest Joes car sales or privately. Then the fun begins sorting all the problems, when they are sorted I keep the thing as long as it allows, then the ride begins again.

My total purchase price of all 5 has been less than 20K

I'm not your target market and never will be
