Four bolt steering box

Has anyone had one apart an if you have was there a needle roller on the input shaft as the manual says.

I've got mine apart an it hasn't got one!! There are signs of someone being there before me an I don't know if they just left it out, or if it wasn't fitted to start with.

Is it power steering?

Does it look like this?

Nah that int the one. Its in book 4 of the download manual on here. Page 24 has the bit about the bearing an page 29 has a diagram of it. An it's power steering, think it's called the Adwest Lightweight steering box.

On the worm drive shaft part no.8 is roller bearings (and theres 2 of them). and on the vertical shaft part no 2 is shown as a bearing. does yer want me ter get yer the part numbers for em?

OI grunt while yer fettling with yer landy does yer still want these push button door handles & locks. Av got all the door catches, & rods & screws & stuff like that If yer want it let us know. un if yerdunt ah'll lob it on to the forum and let em fight ovver it all.

All I need is the drivers door internal locking gubbins.

So any how got me seal kit from Famarse Four an set to doing me steering box, come to replace some of the seals an the new uns have got paint on the outer edge, reckon it's some sort of identifying mark or summat.
Any how wot do yer reckon, I think it's askin fer trubble I dint put these uns in and re used the owld uns. I reckon It's gonna cause more leaks than they'd cure.

Should I send a snotty Email to Famarse four an to their suppliers, I shan't name em. Or seeing as how everything werks OK should I just ferget about it an nivver get owt from them again.

that sort of marking is often seen on rubber type materials - i think it has summat to do with manufacturing and maybe identify the chemical make up or summat.
I have never had any probs with seals with that banding on them.

Maybe it might be worth asking fame-arse 4 what is going on.

Yer can feel the ridge with yer finger, The bloke at famearse four said they dint alllus cure a leaking box, wonder if thats why.

mite be worth saying yu want yo money back then, or at least a substantial discount. yu got nothing to lose, have yu?

Pumps sorted now, I'm reet surprised at how light the steering is.
