Well, suddenly got a sound and feeling like a flat tyre today, pulled over and found that a little arm was dangling down. So drove home carefully after having a poke around to check it looked safe.

From what i can tell (it was dark and wet) there's a ball and socket which connects from the rear axle to a bar which is part of the anti roll or ACE system? (please jump in and correct me if i'm wrong)

Well the top ball has come out.

Question: Is it a case of jacking the axle up and pushing it back together? Do i need a new arm? Is it likely to be more fundamental?

Generally speaking youll need a new droplink mate.

The link should be fitted between the roll bar and the axle.

Not usually that dear, no need for main dealer :)
 
sweet, cheers. Guess i'll be having a trip to Paddocks tomorrow then unless the local place has them in
 
hmm... don't suppose you know the part number or if they go by other names? Can't find any on paddocks / lrseries /ebay

Hi Bump, you may find that an angle grinder is required to do this job as the fixings rust in place - it's no problem to do though. Once the old ones are off it's easy, just put copper grease on the threads before installing new ones

Also Paddocks do sell these parts cheaply but they are aftermarket ones and too be honest didn't look like the quality required.

Land Rover ones are about £20 a-piece and they should be done in pairs.

Cheers, just off to the local landy parts place to see what they have in, i ideally need to do them tomorrow so would rather find somewhere selling them than order.

I've got one bit off quite easily without even touching it - guess the rest won't be as easy, but, i'm very very well acquainted with my angle grinder

Well they didn't have any in, but as said official landy part was £20 (Bearmach ones were £10) so ordered them in - sure the landy will be fine covering a few hundred miles over the weekend with a missing link...
