Freelander 1 Forward Parking sensors... plus. My last. Sniffle.

Having read some silly comments for some of my posts, I've decided to cut-away from LandyZone. There are many individuals who have helped me in oh-so-many ways, with information that solved many problems with my FL1-TD4. And I salute those who did. The others? I can only hope they get better soon.

My last Post is to add, I have just completed the replacement of both Front Brake calipers and their respective hoses. A simple-enough job, and most worthwhile.
There are three other jobs I've done, and these are the most interesting, I reckon.

The 1st:- Disconnecting the air-filter hose to the external air-intake duct (see the photo). I decided the engine would appreciate and run better with warm-air as opposed to cold/cool. Combustion does lean towards warm air rather than cold. With this in mind, I decided to use the air drawn from the Engine Bay (beneath the bonnet) where heat and possible fumes can be drawn into the engine. It's quieter as well as helping the engine to run smoother with better fuel economy too. I blanked the air-intake from the front-left wheel-arch with ( you wont believe this) the plastic lid from a Nescafe Jar. It fitted perfectly and looks good as well.

The 2nd, Fitting a simple filter into the air intake system, where the hose has been removed. Again, see the picture. It's basically a sink/drain filter (70mm), that will stop/prevent large lumps - such as insects reaching the original filter. I used two screws with lock-nuts for its fitting.

The 3rd. I've fitted forward parking sensors. And it was simple. See the photo's.

That's my lot.

Have a nice day, and I have to (sadly) say I fully expect those who lack clever or common-sense to have a final go at me. For those... please go to night-school/college/university and get a life. Then retire, as I have. :) The End. Have a nice day, amigo. Oh, as for paraffin? It's been underestimated for all its purposes. And those who are unable to calculate its positive benefits? Research it, you dopes! lol

Errr, Sorry to hear that someone has upset you, but I think you might be taking it a bit too seriously. It is just a little internet forum.

I don't really know who you are, I don't venture in here much, cos it upsets @Hippo if we wind up the freelanderers. But I am sure you will be missed on the forum.

Just a final thought. You can't actually leave, there is no way to delete the memberships. You can not post any more, or not look at the forum any more. But you cannot leave.

Have a listen to the LZ anthem, and maybe reconsider your decision in the morning. LZ is pretty good fun really, despite a few idiots.

Silly comments aren’t too much of an issue in the FL section are they? Have you been straying into Anything Goes?!
Don’t take things too personally - after all, this is an impersonal forum. Hardly anyone on here goes by their real name. But, if you’re sure, farewell.

Your Td4 will run better with cool air, as it is denser and therefore contains more oxygen. The intercooler is there for this purpose, after the turbo heats up the air by compressing it.

Let me know who upset yer and if it's a durdy tratterboy i'll tow it's heap down the scrap yard

Yer welcome int ere any time but dun't mention b*ats ;)

Shame you feel you have to go, although I still can't help but think you are trolling with points 1 & 2 above

@PopRivet Sorry you feel this way.
There is a good deal of "banter" on here and while I can see that it could become really annoying if one feels that all your "experiences" are being belittled, I wouldn't let it upset you too much.
I suspect that half the "keyboard warriors" that enjoy poking fun are really nice folks if you meet them in person and they would be among the first to jump in their vehicles to come to your aid if you were stranded/in trouble.
Sticking your neck out makes you an easy target for anyone with an element of troll in their makeup.
Ignore it and carry on. Be well.

I think it was me, because I suggested a mod wasn't worth doing. Am I bothered? No. You know what they say about heat and kitchens and stuff. ;)
Eye think he's also fed up of constant reminders about paraffin and cleaning cars.

I don't normally troll but either you are completely wrong on points 1 and 2 or Suzuki wasted a load of cash developing the COLD ramair intake system on both my TL1000R and my Hayabusa - other COLD ramair motorcycles are available. It seems an awful lot of cars with intakes positioned to get the coolest air possible means manufacturers wasted their cash as well. Just because "you decided" doesn't always make you right, especially without checking first and is going to leave you open to being flamed.

I think you'll find its any comments that don't say how wonderful his possibly damaging, illegal or useless adaptations are... whilst, of course, he can call out the general membership as idiots who don't know what they are talking about.

@guineafowl21 and @Mick X11 are now on Mr Rivet's idiot list.

I tend to agree with @Kev12 .

I suspect it's along those lines.

Things like using screen wash jets mounted to the bumper for blasting dirt off headlights are pointless IMO. Why else would manufacturers make high pressure pumps and special jets for such system, if they weren't needed.

Modified fog lamps with LEDs will now fail the UK MOT, so that shows how dangerous those are.

A warm air pick up for an engine is beyond pointless from an economy point of view and potentially damaging to the engine. But hay it ain't my car, so I don't give a ****.

I actually think front parking sensors are a worthwhile mod, so 1 out of 3 ain't bad I don't think.
