iv got a Nissan mistral 2.7 import same as the other's with all the extras pulled a transit beaver tail + tractor that was on the back out of a v/wet grass bank and back onto the road we were both well empress,i drive it most days pulling all sorts off **** motors on a trailer.and leave the disco on the ramp for more welding never ending.

If you hit and short out the trailerboard socket, rear fog light or rear lights while yer driving a maverick or terrano you lose the feed to the dash and the engine cuts out and won't re-start.
Hmm, an 'off roader' that isn't that good off road, wonder how that happened
Surprised about the tail lights / tow bar electrcis bit, but can believe it of Ford, wonder if the Nissan has the same problems (probably does as it's almost exactly the same car).
Apart from that the Terrano is pretty much bullet proof though, Land Rover could have taken a few lessons from them to generate the perfect 4x4
Pity Nissan blew the reliability rep with the Xtrail innit

Nissan is owned by Renault in a mutual share agreement, they've never been owned by GM. The Ford deal ended in 2002

Ford have bought a few companies over the years, more than one of them have had their SPC data published by various sensei and Ford did not compare well with the Japanese competition on consistency..
I'd rather buy Nissan than Ford, as long s I knew the vehicle was built in a non Ford factory. Same goes for early Rovers, the 214 was a far better car built by Honda than the one built by Rover.,

The Nissan Terrano II was manufactured by Nissan. It was also made by Nissan's Spanish subsidiary Nissan Motor Ibérica S.A. for the European market, and also supplied under an OEM agreement to Ford Europe for sale as Ford Maverick on the continent. Launched in 1993 and discontinued in 2006.

The injectors pumps like to go down on the terranos. They cost £1800 to replace.
One of the members of this forum broke down on the plains not too long back after hitting his rear foglight while turning around in a lane. Luckily it only took a quick phonecall and he was up and running again.
tbh I don't go out to that many xtrails that have brokendown.

From what I see on forums like Honest John and Parkers, the turbos are pretty unreliable, might not cause a breakdown, but will cost a bomb when the lack of power goes into the garage

I remember having to tell a rover owner his motor was scrap. When we removed his old windscreen to replace it........there was nothing left to glue the new screen on

effectively with a few minor spec changes. was quite a big thing across the manufacturers at the time.
eg. peugeot 806, citroen synegie, and fiat ulysses
also ford fiesta and mazda 121 and we all know the rover 214/honda concerta

its just seems odd that the biggest two of the big three are making and selling a car almost together. I guess my comment only makes sense if you are in to your american motors but they are normally mortal enemies
