Hello everyone,
With plenty of fine weather I'm now getting well into the rebuild of my 72 swb Series 3. I've got the bulkhead out and stripped ready to replace the footwells and bottem corners. Here's the problem;I've just found out the manufacturer of new footwells is out of business and niether of the suppliers can say when they'll start up again. Can anyone tell me of an alternative stockist ( other than Pads or Crads ) or has anyone a personal stash. Any information will be appreciated.Cheers, Les.

I just had the same problem, I rang just about everywhere and got the same story. Luckily managed to pick one up of here from Mad Hat Man (thanks again!) and got one from a chap on the difflock forum.

One sold on ebay last night for £35 inc postage! There are a pair on there at the moment listed as defender footwells. Im sure they could be made to fit??

the company that was making them has apparently switched their manufacturing site to somewhere in canada,i think steering box covers are in short supply too,i bought 4 when i got a chance,if anyone needs one pm me.

Sorry - Defender footwells are very different from Series items

I measured those on my Lightweight, made a sketch, faxed it to the local Fab shop and collected them in a week! Thicker gauge steel and only cost £20 for the pair. Excluding the side piece, the basic panel is only a trimmed rectangle with three bends in it.

so how did the county footwells that came with my kit form series fit in the series bulkhead.

Possibly there are early and late defender footwell designs. The defender footwells that I am familiar with have a deeper rear vertical section (~1" deeper) and a corrisponding more accute angle on the lower section than series 2 / 3 items.
