I live in East Sussex, and at Scaynes hill the Road just past the Sloop has flooded and is around 12" deep. Now my daughter rode through it on her horse, and I took the Disco up there to have a look. First car made it but sadly the lady in the BMW didnt! Being the decent type I offered to tow her out but she reckoned the car was drying out so I left her to it.

I didnt take the landy through it as I didnt need to go that route, even though in its standard form it will wade 20", but I must question when it's so damn obvious that the water is deep that people risk it rather than using an easy alternative route.

Oh on the way there I saw an Alfa being towed away no doubt another victim of the flood!

When I go out to people who have driven through flood water and then tell em that their car is a gonner cos it's sucked water into the engine they look at you like you are the idiot.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thing is we are all aware of how deep we can go, and also aware of the list of jobs we have to do afterwards from a dry uj or bearings. The average driver is not. I see so many drivers that a car is just a comfy box. Often the car is in a **** mechanical state for its age and they have no idea. A flood is just a big puddle for them and oh dear the engine stopped. It must be somthing to do with the mechanic who put new break pads in!

Theres a ford near mines which gets some what 3ft deep (when we have heavy rain) and ive pulled loads of cars out of there when ever im passing by.
Guess some people try their luck going through !!
