Series 3 Fog Lights

What front and rear fog lights do people recommend for a series 3?

For the rear fog I use a round LED one I got off e-bay for around £10. Its about 3" dia and being LED its flat so you don't need to make a big hole in the body work. Lasted well so far. I also used LED fogs off e-bay. I use them as day running lights so I wanted LEDs to cut the current draw. I recently fitted an LED high level brake light strip across the top of the rear door after getting fed up watching drivers obviouly not seeing the standard brake lights, again as its LED its flat and only needs a small hole for the wire.

Not used a fog light in over 20 years. In fact I can’t remember the last time I saw visibility down to less than 100 yards.

Plenty of tossers with them on in the rain last weekend though going over to Yorkshire on the 62.

Don't need fog lights on the front so wouldn't bother. If yours is old enough you don't need fog lights for the rear either so I also wouldn't bother. If you are going to the effort to fit extra lighting It would be more useful to fit a reversing light as that will get used a lot more than fogs as @Bobsticle said. Also bear in mind that if fitted Fog lights are a testable item on the MOT.

If you really want to fit them, I use another standard light fitting (indicator/side light) with a brake light bulb in it and a red lens. Don't know if this is original but it was fitted when I bought the vehicle and because it is the same as the other fittings does not look out of place keeping the period correct feel. I would not use LED's for this reason as I like mine to look period correct even if it is a long way from concourse. But each to their own LED's do offer a much wider range of fitting and have a very low current draw, I just believe they look wrong on an older vehicle.

For the fronts I would look more at spots/extra illumination for main beam when it is dark rather than specific front fog lights as again these will be used more often. With the height of a series motor to fit an effective front fog light it would need to be under-slung which would then be vulnerable and risk damage when off road and would reduce the approach angle. If you are planning on fitting above the bumper it would be better to fit a flood/spot pattern beam with longer range. Although I do not have any fitted when I was looking I liked the Lucas ones as again they look period. But there are lots of different options and again modern LED units are available. On the 110 I have a pairs of Hellas fitted to the bullbar and rectangular ring light across the roof. I like the ring lights as they are good enough quality for my needs with a good beam patern but most importantly are very cheap to replace for when the get smashed which with 6 of them on the roof line is regularly.
