Disco 2 Safari 5000 Driving or Fog lamps

When looking at second hand safari 5000 lights, how do tell whether the product is the spot light or the fog lights? Are they different sizes/diameters?

Spot lamps have a clear lens to give a long beam, fog lamps have a dense pattered lens to give the flat top beam, driving lamps also have patterned lens simple to some head lamps to give a long wider spread beam.

All Hella Safari 5000 lamps are the same size.

The lens shouldn’t be opaque as shown, dont buy

You should be able to see the bulb even in a fog lamp as link below shows.

I’m not sure now what the model number is for my driving lamps are may be 500, and been there for 27 years, fitted update bulbs to match the headlamp bulbs thats about it as they don't get used much.

I think all the safari lamps were driving lamps as the pre facelift D2's had fogs in the lower part of the bumper. Click on the link & the accessories.

I stand corrected, it seems the 5000 lamps were available as fog or driving .
