hi all
i woke up on sat morning an my brake fluid had emptied on to my drive.
it seems to be coming from the drivers side wing inside the bonnet where the abs unit is.
do these units fail or is it likley to be a pipe. ive had a look at the pipes and they all seem ok.

any advice would be apreciated

right then i have changed the abs unit and need too bleed the brakes.
do i just bleed them as usual form the brake bleed nipple,

passenger front
driver front
passenger rear
driver rear

and roughly how much should it take to fill as the haynes doesnt say

To bleed the brakes requires that you let enough fluid through until you see no more air bubbles. Also if you can see the fluid is dark then keep going until it becomes clear. One caution though, in my experience it is not a good idea to let the header tank empty and then get air into the ABS modulator block as you can't get it out without pressure bleeding the system. Considering you have already disturbed the modulator may suggest you need to do this anyway. Its easier than having someone on the brake pedel doing the 'up then down' thing. Any air in the system will make the brake performance poor and the brake pedel very spongieeee.

thanks for your reply

i bled the brakes through tonight but they still feel a little weak also the when i tested to see if the abs worked it made a strange noise so think i better get it pressure bled as you suggested.
thank you
