Fixed my leaky sunroof...

Quietly confident though. Got the headlining lowered. I didn't take it all the way out as I didn't want to damage it. Quite a bit of trim removed to get this done but just took ma time and didn't break anything. Got the sunroof out and not surprised it was leaking. The seal between the roof and the sunroof flange is the ****iest wee thing. Got it scraped off, cleaned both surfaces with spirit wipe, and applied a good bead of Tiger Seal. Got it fitted back on and tested with the hose. Success. Wouldn't like to do it again tho.

Nice one - hope it's sorted, I repaired the drain tubes on mine and tightened the frame to the roof by tightenening up the torx screws, it seemd to do the job but I wished I gone the whole hog and re-sealed the frame to the roof.

How did you do you the thumbnail image in your post? I can post a whole picture but can't find out how to post a thumbnail that you can click for the big image.

Ha ha. I don't know mate. I was buggering about trying to post a whole picture. When it came up with the thumbnail I could't believe it. We could do with a practice section on here for us technophobes..

I think i clicked on the paperclip for attachments. Then into My Photos, right clicked, copy/paste. Don't quote me on that one.

I used a product called captain tolleys on my roof and it does not involve any dismantling.

It a thin liquid the you apply to cracks and it finds any leaks and seeps in. Then it dries to leave a water tight seal.

Google it or search on eBay. Excellent stuff.

Among other things, I did both of my sunroofs today, as you said, that seal strip is a joke, my front one had a half inch gap with no seal at at all.

Stuffed a good load of sikaflex in there

I used that a while back. Worked for a wee while. But it started coming away in long dry strips. Short term fix i would call it. Worth a try though.

This bit was leaking as well. Plastic corner that attaches to the drain tube. I cut it out and resealed it using the Tiger Seal.

Mine had the stub of the drain snapped off on the OSF, at least I didn't have to remove the whole headlining to fix it, just let the front end down a bit and worked through the gap. Sealed it back together with silicone, been dry since.

Am fecked if a know how those snap off. Where is the force comin from that breaks them???

The drains are there to take away any water that rolls of the sunroof when its wet and opened that is why you have the plastic molding on the front of the glass to divert the water to the sides and drains just at the front.
With the disco sunroofs if you have a faulty seal the water will enter in to the vehicle.
Slide-away sunroofs are fitted with a drain in each corner and are a lot better.

There is nothing supporting the tube an the vibration is enough to snap the thin plastic tube after a few years.

Never thought about that. Wish a had done sumthin to support in when a was in there now.
