Lot depends on how you look at it, was you thinking on your back or do you have access to a ramp or pit? Did mine few weeks back but did have the use of mates four post ramp and transmission jack [grearbox is heavy], found it pretty straight forward but then I"ve had 2 classics before, had to do the dual mass flywheel as well to cure lumpy hot tickover.

its not a bad job, just dont try and take it of with the transfer box on or you will probably kill yourself when it lands on you. the transfer box and gearbox can be lifted on there own providing your not built like a sparrow, saying that its best to have a mate there. remeber to take of the slave cylinder or the box wont come off because the falcrom arm cant move round enough to clear the pressure plate. now enough talking and get stuck in;).

arron beast unleashed said it all, only thing to add really is when did my classic clutch on my back I used engine hoist through door with rope round box up through gear lever hole and trolly jack under bell housing to take the weight.

no noise at all from my DMF it was just the lumpy tickover thing, friends td5 disco had new DMF when fitting new clutch no noise from it just out of tolerance allowed same as mine.

only askins as my manual dse makes a slight chattering noise sometimes when letting the power off but doesnt do it all the time
