Hi, Can anyone help me in regard to fitting a Carden propshaft with larter flange than standard.
I need to connect the larger carden propshaft flange to a Discovery 1 differential flange. I believe that I may be able to change the differential flange to a later, larger flange, however I need to know which differential flange would be compatible due to the size and possible mismatch of the number of splines.
Essentially I have a Series 2a with special coil sprung chassis, which has Discovery 1 axles fitted and LT77 gearbox, therefore I have made an extra long front propshaft with standard UJ's, which I have found to be at too much of an acute angle into the diff for the UJ's not to knock. I have ordered a Carden double UJ prop shaft in view of welding this end to the prop, however the flange is too big to directly bolt to the standard UJ flange.

Go to a machine shop and get a spacer adaptor turned and drilled to suit.

You have a bitsa, might as well get a custom part manufactured to mate two different factory parts, that way at least you won't need to modify a second prop in future should it need replaced, the adaptor would make it a nut and bolt exchange.
