fitting a new radio - what do I need?

I've decided to get a new radio for my 90 - it currently has an aerial wire, a purple power wire and two double core speaker wires coming from the radio housing.

do i need to get all sorts of new connectors to fit a modern radio?

purple shud be battery permanent live - you will also need an ignition (accessory) live. The battery live is for memory and the accessory live is for radio power.

dunno - muddy will have to check when the purple wire becomes live - if its live all the time its fur memory - if its switched via ignition, its power - whichever he will need the other one.

yu know, as well as I , the chances of it bein the correct colour is unlikely .

Anyways, ter the plot fer a change. Noo automobile wireless' come with a wiring diagram FFS!

I bet the lead 'ees got is switched power (when the ignitshun's on an' that) ............yer need a permanent power feed direct frum the battery fer yer mammerie. Best get any old (the cheapest) conversion loom (you know, thin g yer use ter fit yer wireless into say, a Mondeo or a Micra or whatever) & cut the (right) connector orf. That way yer can connect yer motors wiring ter the wires frum the conversion plug & plug that plug into the plug frum the wireless thus not ruining the plug on yer wireless by cutting the wires on it and connecting it direct to the wiring on the motor.

See, easy peasy!
