First post & a couple of questions

Hi Guys, I joined the forum this evening as I am determined 2017 will be the year I finally get my hands on my first defender. I have found somewhere where you can buy ex mod defenders and have my eye on a 90 300tdi soft top
A couple of questions I have -
1. Has anyone bought a ex mod vehicle and was it a seamless process of getting the paperwork sorted?
2. Does the fact it is ex military in anyway effect the value / or its ability to hold value? This isn't a massive concern in all fairness as I am looking for this car to be my main vehicle/passion for the foreseeable.
3. If in the future I wanted it to be more practical is it easy to convert it to a hard top?

There very easy to change from soft top to hard top I done my ex military 90 last year hardest part was getting the spare wheel cradle to sit right, that took a few hours
