Cloth on a bendy stick and silicon around the bulbholder

If you are careful you could use a Drexel and remove the bottom of the reflector and make it into a flap type affair. Probably bollocks but an idea.

Just tek em out, rinse out int sink, then drill holes in the bottom of the reflectors. Same for front indicator. Water gets in, water gets out.

No point trying to seal them mate, honestly, if you're big into wading it's a mug's game...

No offence blue beasty, silicone is well annoying when it comes to bulb change anorl you see.

This I am aware of. As a builder who does a lot of kitchen and bathroom re-fits I have a few strategies for dealing with the stuff and its less annoying than not being able to see anything on the way home

I may try holes if nothing else works but after the last trip it wasn't so much the water that was the problem but the layer of grime it left behind

Agreed!

I find that with 200 lights, it's best to take along fresh candles. That way when you've done wading you can pop them othe bonnet and it's like spotlights in comparison. Obviously you have to be careful not to drive too fast as the candles will blow out.

Seriously, since replacing the old lights with the 300 type, it has been a massive improvement. Obviously they will fill up with water too at some point.

2 tips on disco 1's

1 - change the headlight wiring as per the diagram in the FAQ section.
2 - use +120 bulbs.

What does it drive like, did you have to change the diffs cos of the tyres?
I want to do something similar to my disco 1 but I intend to take it to Africa, most of the roads are sand and I wanted to do a conversion on the basis that if anything broke I could fix it with standard parts if possible as if I have to get anything sent in it could take months

how to rake up an old thread...

diffs you dont need to change, transfer box may be an option to get better speeds with having bigger wheels as it makes you use gear box less, i wnt for the 1.4 defender box in mine and im running 33" tyres

Old thread or not - I'm interested in your 1.4 TBox. What are your thoughts? How long have you had it done? What did you pay? Low speed? High speed? Would you do it again.

The reason I've not taken the plunge yet is mine has a big torquey 2.8 TGV and 34.5" tyres. Pulls great and has a low motorway rpm. I like the idea in principle.

I have 37" tyres on it now and fitted the defender transfer box which has made a hooge difference..well worth doing
