Right she's a 2006, 90 defender county station wagon. Two front seats, four individual back seats. CD player, central locking, big front 'bull bar' thingy, boost alloys four new tyres, full landrover service history, one previous owner, checker plate, central locking, air con, bulkhead removal bar, tow bar and side steps, never been off road or towed. mint condition interior. only done 20,000 miles and comes with 12mths tax and 12mths MOT.

Mine for £14,000.

It's a b it more than i'd hoped to pay, but as we'd only be looking to do around 3,000 miles a year through the winter, with a mileage that low and so well looked after, it could do us for the next 20+ years??

I was going to see a similar vehicle on Saturday which had less spec, was a 2000 model, had 90k miles and was £8,500

It will all hinge on the following

1. Insurance (fully comp)
2. road tax .... it's £400? odd, and i hate paying anything to the tax man!
3. Leg room, i am 6ft 3" and yet to sit in it, it has the bulkhead bar? and apparently a mud rail (£50) might give me an extra inch or two?

Probably go and see it Friday. It will be used all year round, but mostly during the snow and ice. I live down a two mile single track road which the last two winters has been impassible to the skoda! But for my work ford ranger we'd have starved, and the mrs wouldnt have got to work.

It's maybe not a 'real defender' to some members, but i can't wait to own one, and with such a low mileage this baby would be part of the family, hopefully for decades?

What d'ya think?

John.

Not to break your joy, but it think that's the puma motor and 6 spd trans

Send a PM to jamesmartin and get his expert advice. I did the same and he said stay clear. Go with the td5.

Just wasn't quit sure on the year change. From what i've read they detuned the moter on puma for the insurance companys want it in the 115hp rating instead of the 185hp on the commercial motors of the same size

have driven a few puma's they are pretty nippy off the mark but that gearbox is a mare and the mpg is nowhere near as good as the td5 , would'nt have a tdci as a gift tbh (well would'nt keep it, sell it and get a mint td5 :D)

firstly the 06 model what is the mileage on that 1? seems a tad high price wise unless its exceptionally low mileage.
and the 2000 model would not go there personally as its a 10p engine (pre-2002) which is not so desireable few issues ;).post 2002 is 15p engine much safer bet .

Thanks for the info. I'm going for a test drive and viewing this Saturday and all going well it will be mine!

Like I said it's a 2006, full landrover service history and only 20,000 genuine miles. Hopefully it would be in my possession for years of we buy it as we are looking to use it as a second car/winter car for local trips.

Anyone have any further info regarding leg room in a td5 90 with a bulkhead removal bar fitted???

And does anyone have info on these 'mud rails' that allegedly give more leg room??
