Took delivery of 05 TD4 HSE, all's well except 2 niggles to date.

The tailgate wiper does not travel far enough, in fact it hardly goes past vertical and is short on travel by about 40 degrees, any ideas anyone ? Not sure if the motor used the older system of using a copper track within the casing to provide motor power.

Secondly, it's got a SINGLE din SatNav/Radio/CD stacker. I've seen the forum stuff on double din removal, but not the single din. The unit has 2 quite think slots in it, on either side, below the two rotary knobs. Does anyone know if this is for a very slim removal key access ?

(Below the unit is a single din cunny hole for stuff !)

Many thanks...........ebt :whoosh:

your back wiper could be the wiper arm someone operated it while the ice held it in place and it has ripped the teeth on the wiper arm

Hi EBT, yes the thin slots under the rotary controls are for removal keys, I bought some on eBay this week for a few quid.

Are you replacing with a different HU?

I hope to, but I've heard there may be mismatch issues between new style "ordinary" head units and the inputs to the HL amp. Any views/experience ?

Any chance you could post a photo of the removal keys or send me a photo to [email protected] ?

Many thanks for your response anyway.........ebt

All you need to remove the Sat Nav/Radio/CD is a screw driver and plenty of patience....
assuming it's no different than a 54 plate HSE. :)

Remove plastic cover above head unit, take out two screws. The take off the cover for the centre consol (disconnecting all the switch connectors), but to get that out you first need to undo the storage box/arm rest and the bit beneath the handbreak.

Once that's dis-assembled you'll find four screws holding the head unit in the dash. Take these out and hey presto....

Just need to put it together again. Took mine out and tried another head unit (non-LR cheapy) which sounded no better than what was there. At least it confirmed that:
- you can out an after market in with existing wiring; and
- that my amp is f**ked

These are the keys, they slot into the slots under the knobs and then the stereo pulls free (just to check we're talking about the same unit, it's the Becker 4745 I've got).

You will need a code, if you're plugging it back in.

The plugs on the back look like standard plugs to me, I'm just worried about the more powerful output on a new unit blowing the HK amp (read about it somewhere, although others on this forum have had no problems).
