Prop bearings were u/s, so replaced them earlier this year, but left the Gaylander in Mondo mode over the summer. Marked up props when they were dropped.
Now, since putting the props back on there is a rumbling, whining noise from the centre of the Gaylander, that wasnt there before. Used Britpart bearings.
Any one else suffered a similar fate? Or any ideas.....really hoping nothing to do with IRD. Should try dropping props again, but wrong time of year....
If it is IRD related, would it still make the noise when the props are dropped?

I recently refitted my propshaft minus the vcu damper which was fugked.Theres a right racket in low revs when accelerating,I'm putting that down to missing damper and knackered prop support bearings. My diff is most likely shagged too, what a heap of ****.

I thought yu liked gaylanders?

yu cant blame the motor if yu didnt fit the damper and yu got shot bearings .

Sorted the noise problem. Ive fitted a set of 215/80/15 Insa Saharas....cant hear the prop bearings for the tyre noise. Bliss, reminds me of a series II I had once........:D

And in the meantime all that vibration is working its way down to your ird bearings and beyond.
