Freelander 1 2002 TD4 Whining rolling noise

Cheers everybody!
Lately (starting a few months ago) a whining noise is coming from transmission (looks from front to me) when in gear, usually 4th or 5th, when a transition occurs between traction and free rolling. Seems a bit louder when the motor is an extremely bit over the balance between traction and free rolling.
I-m sure this happened not only to me, perhaps I did not describe it so well.
Any advice? Looking forward to avoid ruining IRD or else.

Try carrier bearings. .that would be my first thought
But I could be wrong.as there could be a few things. But im a novice.

They are 4k km old. No chance from there, I hope..
