Faulty fuel gauge amongst other things

Hi guys,my fuel gauge is not working correctly,ie it's showing there is a lot more fuel in the tank than there actually is,also the computer is telling me there is more range,obviously corresponding with the gauge,has anybody had this and is it a easy fix? I was wondering if it could be the in tank pump/sender unit? Any advice most welcome as I have run out of fuel twice now!!,cheers,Lee.

Sender, but I would look with diagnostics before I started dropping the tank.
I never rely on the gauge, I reset the trip every time I fill up anf know I have a safe 400 miles before it runs out.

Yes.

Dont have to drop tank there is a way to cut through the floor to get to the pump/sender
If you'd posted this a week ago I had a pump/sender I took out! you could have it but it been thrown now

Theres a small place near my work that sell replacment units for think it was £35 infact there realy cheep for everything! ill get there number if you want it?

So you can't even mathematically work out your trip distance
Clearly GPS is the only way to be sure... until it's cloudy
