My Mrs had a coming together with a car on the M62 near Ikea at the top of the M621, the bloke who ran into her is laughing after convincing her there was no damage, how she didnt see the broken light cluster and the bumper hanging off i will never know, any way ive had a look on my RAVE disc and it only tells me how to remove and refix the pre facelift bumper. Anyone know how to do this to the newer bumper? Cheers!

Wife didn't get the number of the other car?

My damage was by an anonymous bar-steward in Asda's car park. No CCTV either.

Yes, RAVE does not include the facelift Freelander 1 - last version was 2003 I believe. :(

The rear bumper is no problem really.

Remove the rear lights and you'll find the main bolts.

You also need to take off mudflaps and take out the silly little plastic pins in tubes that LR call 'scrivets' (half screw-half rivet) from the inner wheel arches.

There are more scrivets hiding under the rear door sill rubber strip.

What have I missed?? - someone will be along soon to tell us.

It all in the Haynes W-Shop Manual - it's a must-buy.

Hope that helps - good luck. :)

Having taken off my 04 facelift rear bumper twice, heres the script.

There are 2 torx bolts under the bumper at the silver part.
You need to remove the fog/reverse lights as there are 1 philips screw under each. Allen key into the 3 screws removes them.
Remove the scuff plate in the boot, 6 screws. set in 2s left, middle, right.
This lets you get to 5 scrivits, these are best removed with 2 flat head screwdrivers to prise up the inner parts.

You have a 5 door? I have a 3 door, so this part changes as under the plastic arch cover there is a philips each side. 3 doors need the whole arch taken off. I think you only need a small part taken off.

If your refitting then be carefull of the indicator/brake lights as they are allen key to remove. Also if your removing parking sensors if fitted. then disconnect them CAREFULLY, they clip out the holders and get pushed back into the inside of the bumper. The holders push outside to the painted side of the bumper.

This should help you.
