I've finally decided to do something about an annoying feature of my '87 RRC facia fresh-air vents. The RH is fully closed with the slider to the left & directs the air flow towards the driver when slid to the right, problem is the LH one is exactly the same making it impossible for the front passenger to get a flow of air, as when the slider is towards them the vent is completely closed. No problem I thought, just lever out the LH vent & rotate it 180 degrees, problem solved ... but NO, do that & the vent won't fit back into the dash properly as the 2 'ears' in the moulding are now at the top whereas they should be at the bottom.
Before I seek a replacement vent can anyone tell me if these are 'handed' as any new one's advertised all appear to have the same part number (7071)
Thanks all ;)

Just had a look at my '86.
Both vents the same & do the same as yours.

Many thanks for that, what a design ... can't believe the lack of forethought, but we are talking LR here
Guess I'm looking to see if there is an alternative as my other 'arf complains that she can't feel fresh air to her face in this hot weather.

Tell her to drop the window & stick her head out?
Or probably safer to suggest one of those little fans you can get to stick on the dash? Lots on ebay etc.

I don't want to appear a snob, but I'm not driving around in a RR with a crappy Chinky fan on the dash o_O
I'll give the issue some thought, interestingly a LHD Classic would not have the problem.

Sorry mate but snob and Essex don't belong in the same sentence.:D:D:oops:

Not that it bears the slightest relevance to my query but I was not born in Essex, nor did I spend my formative years in the county :p
Being a fan of classic vehicles for years I chose to own RRC's because they are, to me, the best model of the range that LR has ever produced. If I were in the market for a new car I wouldn't touch a SUV of any make with a barge pole.

I couldn't agree more, I've had five Classics and still wish I had my last one instead of the P38.;):D

This is my fourth RRC, all V8 autos & the first (in 2001) was preceded over the decades by five Series LR's.
Have I been an enthusiast of the breed, or should I seek psychiatric help ?

It would have the opposite problem.
Driver no air, passenger sat in a wind tunnel.
