Exhaust With No Boxes 300tdi?

Hi Anyone Know If I Take All My Boxes Out Of My Exhaust Will It Damage My Engine In Anyway I Have A 300tdi 90 And Would It Sound Better Cheers Rich

depends if you want it to pass the next MOT. And you would sound like a tw@t because it's a doozil

depends what else you do to it. i sliced mine off just infront of the 1st box. boy did it make a noise! prob would fail the MOT like that. So i put a cherry bomb straight through silencer on it and run some extra pipe out of the side behind the passenger door.

smokes loads more on start up than it used to, but once its warm, its fine. prob overfuelling due to the decrease in overall length. You could however adjust the fuel pump to compensate for this.

so short answer, taking boxes out wont do anything for making it sound better, fit a cherry bomb or similar.

alternatively buy a V8

i took out my mid box on my 300 110 and put a ss silencer replacement pipe in to increase power and aparently fuel consumption . but that smoke less now ???

also blanked egr and together they are good but you must keep your intercoller clean ( i clean with paint thinners every service now ) .


sounds niceer as you get more turbo whistle etc but not as nice as a cherry bomb.

my 200tdi defender had three boxes.replaced it with a s/s exhaust with a single box and its not any louder.
plus the guy that done the fitting said it will go a bit faster and a few more mpg

if its a turbo then getting a larger bore will help with performance but more so in the bore of the manifold but thtas mega money.
