having purchased a full stainless exhaust from turbo back the exhaust fumes stink!
I have done enough miles to take the shine off the new exhaust and it’s not getting any better
it’s clean no smoke runs extremely well but it’s unbelievable if left running or with the back window down you can smell it off the dogs 😩
would the cat been removed cause this ?

Possibly. It'll also fail the MOT, or should according the the MOT test guidelines.
Its was tested the day after it was put on with no issues tbh
The smell is very hard to put in words but pungent fits the bill
I have ran a van with out one due to rot and cost to replace but never have a smell like this
It might be coincidence it might be something else but it’s literally running like a dream no smoke it smells hot or cold
I honestly in to mind to put the original back on to see

You're lucky, as it should have failed the MOT. It would definitely fail a road side emissions check, if that's a thing in your area.

Maybe it's just something in the exhaust system burning off?

We didn’t have a speed camera in the hole area until 15 years ago then the year after they spent millions building a bypass around it 👍

I would be surprised if i did get pulled and someone noticed it tbh
Its not smokey and unless you stand behind it you probably wouldn’t notice the smell
Its just starting to pee me off if i am honest
The bloody dogs love the window down at the back and you definitely get a wiff if the wind blows the wrong way

I fitted stainless exhaust, retained the cat, and get fumes when back window open. Wasn't too bad last time but it's been too cold to drop the back window. I shall brave the cold tonite and see if it still smells.

Had back window down last night and no fumes. Was down for 10 miles at 50 and 30.
I fitted the muddy mods exhaust with cat.
I found it a bit awquard to see which bend went where over the rear drive shaft at first but went on well.
Not too noisy when driving, unless under a tunnel with the windows down!

I looked at that one but the one I bought seemed better value
But I think I might have made mistake 😩

I have had the standard setup on mine for the last 11 years. With the tailgate window down, sometimes the fumes in the cabin are unpleasant and on other occasions there aren't any at all. From what I can tell, wind strength and direction seem to make the difference. It's always better with the front windows and sunrooof open though and also when not coasting down hill. I have always thought the MM side exit setup would illiminate the issue.

Its ok now in winter we aren’t really doing much
But spring when days get longer and hopefully wormer we will be travelling around and I don’t think this is going to float with the wife

I have noticed in the past getting a headache with it open but have always detected the whiff when that has happened. If SWMBO is in the car I've tended to err on the side of caution. Although, she has huskies and loves them being in the back with it open. They love it too.
