You can do it a number of ways,

buy the regoins on CD
download by the Sq Km
use 3rd Party maps ie from torent and pay for the 3rd party softwear, this way if you have any map scan and calibrate to MM, this is waht i will do with the Marroco map ect when i eventaly go.... funds allowing....

the choice is yours.

My mm app is before the licensing changed and they had to re do the app.
Unfortunately it appears to be down to apple insisting that the map store goes via the app store so they can take their share (I think it's 30% ).

I had to manually copy the maps onto the free app which your not supposed to be able to do. Now got the whole of the uk loaded onto the free app

The map shop function is crap. The app it self works well on the iPad and I'm very pleased with it.

That would be great. Only two landys at present and no pref on where to go.
I've highlighted all the Essex & herts byways. Matt is joining me so can read the route off my iPad.

My mate gave me a map for the whole of essex for mine

just downloaded memory map seems a superb app! not cheap but good for my iphone

Last question before I hit the torrent sites, landranger 1:50K or Explorer 1:25K?? Guessing the explorer ones....

the easy way is to rebuy the maps but i already got them all as 3rd party ones.

Use an external drive like wot i did on my netbook

I have pretty much all the maps coming for my iPad app and it works really well. Im chuffed with it!

I would go for the 1:25k as in my opinion they are better to read, but you do get a bigger file for less area covered,

Dont froget you will need the 3rd Party Mapping software from MM.

I got all of the regions working on the Tab now...., all sorted.

So now will not have to buy a new GPS module for my PDA.

Ermm nope 1:50k covers a large section of the UK. there's 8 areas. 1:25k cover the same area as the papermap does. and are a fraction of the size of the 1:50k for driving 50k ones are better as you get 4 times more area on the screen.

Yes a 1:50k map does cover a larger area then a 1:25k map for the same size piece of paper, you are right, and yes you do get more area on your screen when driving but for information for a given area, but with all scales they are zoom-able in and out... so i can not see the reasoning behind your thinking.... it also depends on the are you want to cover at the time.

I carry a 1:50k set of maps of my area Norfolk Suffolk Essex ect in paper in the landy as a back up.... as its a smaller volume..

Then in my opinion, the information is better on the 1:25k, for example the BOAT's are in green and not redish-purple that makes them easier to see against the rest of the map...

I am not so sure that there are 8 regions tho, of the top of my head I thought there was 5 for MM - I may be wrong.

As I say in my opinion .........

If your not sure go to a map shop get one of each scale out have a look see which one you like

I has all the maps for the UK 1:25k 1:50k and all the CAA aerial charts. deffo 8 English regions. South West, South East, South wales & Borders, North Wales Central england south Central England North, North East England, North West England and then there's the Scottish regions.

the whole set fits onto 4 or 5 DVD.s I've distributed more copies than Mem Map have

There's a few of us (3 / 4 so far).
Thinking about lanes around stansted, takeley, bishops stortford violets lane east herts etc.
More the merrier

Tried out the MM on the Android Tab this moring , seem to be working great..... got the whole of regoin two on, dont think I'll bothe with all the other regoins untill i need them , i'll leave them on the pc for now.

now need to get Patch sorted and try some suffolk/norfolk lanes out with it

Tomorrow's laning is looking like a quiet one.
So far confirmed list is:
Me
James (old work friend of mine)
And a few hopefuls.

If that's it I may change the area / route as James has no snorkel and I'm not doing voilets lane on my own :crazy_driver:

If you are coming along can you pm me this evening and I'll pm meeting times / location.
