graded = the local council have dug up the lane, & re-surfaced it using old road-scalpings, which are compressed to form a road-like surface, suitable for your average hatchback (or worse, a transit-tipper) go drive along.
Afterall, the council are obliged to maintain the lane, as it is afterall, a "road".
its still a pleasant drive (im guessing, ive not driven it for a long time), as part of it is set in a wooded area.....
good for some, not so good ("fun") for others...

STOP!!!! HOLD IT!!

my mistake, Ur talking FeunexPelum aint ya?!...im thinking of a totally different lane alltogether! Violets lane has NOT been graded (that I know of)...

Violets lane is a river so cannot be graded, and the river changes the bed almost daily. I think i know the one your thinking of, people are play "off piste" next to the track and creating there own.
CPY do you need the actual grid ref or just where it is?

 I was thinking of Knightingale lane (A127/A128 junction), thats the one thats recently been graded...

Good good, axle breathers are done and i have a collection of plastic tubing and 200tdi airbox. Just need to get a new filter, seal the box and get a top piece to fit on and its ready to wade.

Goonarmy, just where it is is fine. So i can find it on a map/google.

I hate to sound patranising, but if you go to google-maps, & search for Violets Lane:
Violets Lane - Google Maps

Voila!...Head North from the pub (Does nice food btw) If you do street-view from the link above, you'll see a "FORD" sign.....thats the way!;)

Its depth does vary alot....I've done it where the deepest part was only half-way up my tyres...other times its been lapping the bonnet....

New know what i did search for Violets Lane but when it came up with that i thought it was too far away to be the right one. Ben told its just the other side of Braintree to me, little bit more than just the other side lol.
So feel free to patronise away as i was being a dumbass.

Does look like a nice little pub, anyone else be up for visiting there one sunday?

Checked out a lane thats actually near me the other night. Goes from just behind Altons Garden Centre (take the left after Altons then left again, its at the bottom of that road), goes under the A130 and comes out at Rushbottom Lane in Benfleet.

Problem is someone has stuck one of those removable security posts at the A127 end  I am assuming this isnt allowed?

There is a stables right next to it so I am guessing they have done it to stop 4x4s going down there so riders can have it all to themselves

If it is a confirmed RoW as per the council's Definitive Map then whoever put the post in is obstructing the Queen's highway. If the post is removeable without any need to damage it (e.g. cut a lock or whatever), then remove it :) If it's locked in, then report it to the RoW Office at the council. No mention of any obstructions on Trailwise so you might want to update that as well!

:mad:It's annoying when folks do that:mad::mad:

Trailwise has it as a RoW, so a quick check with the council to make sure that there is no recent TRO (although that should be posted on the lane itself) would be sensible - you could report the obstruction at the same time :).

It might done I didnt inspect it too closely, just saw the post and thought 'fookers' lol and came home. Shame as its was the only decent looking lane hear me. Looks like I have to keep going to Braintree then for some fun :D
