Ok, I'll check it tooCheck the throttle pedal at rest sensor. You can use a continuity tester for testing it.
Ok, I'll check it too
Does the following occur with your car...But, why does ABS operate without problems...?
Does the following occur with your car...
1) When you turn the ignition on the ABS, TC & HDC lights light up.
2) After a few seconds the TC & HDC lights turn off but the ABS stays on.
3) After you start the car and begin to move the ABS light turns off.
It should go open circuit when the pedal is about 10mm down from the resting position.
Yes it's the throttle pedal switch.Rest sensor on the throttle pedal ? Maybe throttle pedal switch ?

According to Rave, there are 2 reasons why the HDC Fault light alone would be lit...1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
But the yellow car icon is still on.

I have read real-time data from ABS. Wheels sensors and brake pedal switch working correctly.
The switch located on the gear lever...I don't know how it's called in English... downhill switch ? Could this be the cause of the problem? I didn't check it.
Pre 2002 cars do not have a HDC Relay according to this thread....

The self test is working on the ABS - and only the HDC Fault light lit.
So your ABS Sensors at the wheels are working.
Incidentally - I don't believe that either of the code readers you have tried are properly compatible with a 2001 Freelander as the Freelander is pretty propriety and you need one that's specifically for Freelander.
There are a number of "home" devices available such as Hawkeye, Lynx, iCarsoft to name a few. Be careful with the iCarsoft i930 though as someone has reported on here that it does not work properly with the Teves Mk20 ABS used in 2000 to 2002 cars.
