Engine trouble :(

Ive had the guy who i sold me disco to on the phone saying the engines blew up

..I asked what he meant by 'blew up' n he said 'its seized' and i sed 'is there no oil in it?' and he ses theres plenty oil... so how can it be seized?...... he reckons the crank has broke in two???

Ive told him i sold it in good faith and i cant accept liabillity for it but i have offered to help him source an engine which he says he can fit himself... wotcha reckon?

He ses its done about 300 mile, he lives in devon so poppin round to have a look is out the question

Ive no idea... i dont know him from adam but i like i said it was sold in good faith and id have gone anywhere in it confident it'd get there n back, i dont know anyone in devon on ere but if theres any takers let me know.

Thats your best option, if yu can, as an "independant" investigator.
It was burning a bit of oil, but nothing that would, obviously, cause it to sieze...... unless it was turbo runaway?

Speak reasonably to him, try and help where you can...but dont take any ****...if its dead it aint your fault, as a regular on here most will know you aint a tart...an engine can let go at any time.

End of day..private sale...your hands are clean.

he told me theres plenty oil in it... so it aint seized and the turbo aint sucked it dry. reckons the cranks broke in two but he aint took the sump off yet

I wud have thought that was almost impossible to identify without removing the sump and shells.

i agree. its made the 300 miles ok. he may have thrashed it all the way home. or run it dry then topped it up

What do folks want? I reckon i've bought 100 motors off ebay...and i've had maybe 10 where i though, bolix, its a dog...not once did i go back to the seller and demand money back..i took a chance aiming to earn a few quid, so its my shoulders it lies on...win some lose some...help him with an engine at no cost to you nathan, you aren't liable for more.

Agreed. Source an engine for him, but don't pay for it.

I agree, ive done the same myself, i aint liable for anything but im such a nice bloke ive offered to help him source a lump but nothing financial

just send him some links from ebay near to him dont matter if there dogs youve sourced an engine or 2 then its up to him
