Hello- have just swapped the engine and box from another disco into my daily driver. (300tdi- manual) Both 96 models and the engine turns over but wont fire.
I know the new engine is bang on , but there's no fuel at injectors when cranking.
Am suspecting the immobiiser system at the fuel pump is to blame- black three wire plug plugged straight into the pump (plug is blue incidentally on the 'new engine pump) Do i need to bypass something to get it to fire? I dont have the old engine or pump for reference! or would it be easier to swap the ECU's (still have the donor disco.. and would this screw up anything else.
Any advice would be much appreciated as i don't know how much more VW Polo-driving i can take!!
Thanks in advance

Someone with more knowledge than me would be able to tell more certainty,

However I cant see nay problems with ECU swap for the engine

If both vehicle are 96s and UK spec the security ECU hardware is identical, if the engine cranks then it's not immobilised. There may have been a variation in the electrical connections because of the colour change u need to look at an electrical diagram that's shown in the likes of a Haynes manual to see if your three wires go to the correct terminals, also there's no damage to the wires.

I thought i read somewhere that the pump has a shut off valve or something which activates with the immobiliser?

I believe that's EDC equipped engines, running a 12v supply will energise the valve, but u have to remove the security cover to get at it, that's only what I have read mind you and also your engine still won't crank as the starter is isolated.

reet- tried swapping over egr ecu- no different. No live going any of the 3 wires going to fuel pump.. went off to get the manual and when i got back, the car wont even turn over now...and i also sliced my finger open tryin to inspect the wires so am geetin mad now!

Cracked it- busted live wire to the pump (break near the bulkhead) and since learned them 3 wires atop the pump are summat to do with the egr (which i removed anyway) so not required! Now gettin diesel to the injectors but now killed the battery so will have to wait till tomorrow to fire it up!
