Am looking to replace my 2.5 TD (19J) with a newer more powerful engine. was initially considering sticking a 200tdi in for simplicity and cos its a reliable tried and tested engine. however all the engines for sale hav a far few miles and cant really afford a reconditioned one. anyone got any suggestions on other engines that can be used and are simple to swap? or is it still best to stick with a 200tdi?? cheers

hmm mite hav to hav a look under the sofa and see if i can scrape together enuff to get a reconditioned engine. is ther a noticible difference in performance between a reconditiond one and one thats done a 150,000 miles

whats your idea of a fair few miles ?

bearing in mind a 200/300 will do 450K without too much trouble and it'll be only just run in at 100k

fair enuff. anyone got any suggestions on where to source one?? was thinking about going down a scrap yard?? will i get a fair price ther??

:( erm.. Try asking in the for sale/wanted here..or go down the ebay route...find one that you can hear running..take someone with you if you arent sure..tis all common sense..pain in the butt, but shop around, know your budget, stick to it..100k is as sean said not a worry (blimey, twice today sean!)..if its been looked after..theres loads out there, may be worth buying complete vehicle and then selling rest of parts off...good luck!
