Engine problem!!!

I have taken the fuel tank out of my discovery to do the welding needed for the MOT, it is now all back together but the engine wont keep running once yuou have reached 2000rpm and just cuts out!
I think there may be a fuel filter underneath the truck but not 100%
Any ideas?

yes there will be a fuel filter change it then see if its ok proberly got s ome **** out the tank in it

There's a gauze type filter inside the tank on the pick up pipe, this could be partially blocked due to the disturbance of sediment by removing the tank. Just take the feed pipe of and loosen the filler cap, blow back with compressed air, just two or three short bursts. Put the feed pipe back on and tighten the fuel cap.......but DON'T start the engine for an hour or so, give the disturbed sediment time to settle out again.
Also check that you've not trapped the feed pipe when you re-fitted the tank.

Also, check/clean out the fuel sedimenter, these are often the cause of bad running.

Hi there Ver, the fuel sedimenter is fixed to the inside of a chassis rail, on the drivers side, just in front of the rear wheel. It looks like a filter housing.

To take off the bowl for cleaning, you need to get underneath the car and will need an 11mm spanner to undo the bolt which is on top of the housing, just under the rear floor.

Undo this bolt and be ready with a catch tank (I used a plastic ice cream box) to catch the diesel held within the bowl. It sits on rubber seal which can sometimes stick - if this is the case with yours, give the bowl a light tap with a rubber hammer or similar to release it.

You may find some snotty-looking mayonnaise stuff in there - this can block fuel supply and needs cleanning out thoroughly, before re-assembly.
