Engine number

1. My chassis is new so I’m going to get the chassis stamped tomorrow to match the VIN plate. Is that right?

2. My 1994 300tdi engine came out of a car that was then crushed (discovery or some other car). It’s a reputable independent LR garage, they sourced the engine for the previous owner and I’ve spoken to the garage a few weeks ago and it all checks out (the vehicle wasn't robbed or anything). What I’m wondering is, why do you think my engine number is not where it’s supposed to be in the picture? I can only see a G and a H at the end. The other numbers seem to have perished?

I sprayed powerful degreaser spray on it. It's clean now? Do you mean sand it down?

Well done!! You were right. I thought it was a relief embossed number I was looking for. I started with a new rag after I thought it'd been cleaned. It's full of dirt. I thought it was a filed down dodgy engine at first. I think it's 21L67606 then another 1 or 2 numbers after that. Will do the end bit tomorrow, but thanks. Cheers
