I've had issues with my exhaust snapping repeatedly (5 times in the last year). I'm getting fed up of taking it off to repair it so was going to try and replace the engine mounts to see if less vibration would solve it.

Before I go ahead and get them, is there anything else I should be checking out? Which mounts would people recommend for a 19j in a 1989 90?

The mounts from Glencoyne engineering are reputed to be a bit softer than the usual Britpart ones, several people have used them to reduce vibration. They do seem a bit softer on a thumbnail test, but I've yet to fit them.

I'd like to cure the issue if at all possible!

I seem to have misplaced my Haynes manual and can't find any diagrams online, can anyone tell me how many engine mount rubbers I need to buy for a 1989 90 with a 19J engine? Are they all the same?

I'll have to go have a root around in the garage for my Haynes, hope I haven't lost it!

I think you will find the series engine mounts are the same height as the defender ones, but the defender ones are larger diameter, you do have to cut the defender ones to fit the series motors.
The one problem with the defender exhaust set up is there is no flex section as std.
Measure the pipe, ebay stainless flex, get the long one, cut pipe tack weld flex in, remove and fully weld refit and forget, has worked on mine for the last few years with no issues.

Edit forgot to say it cracked just behind the gearbox.
