Hi all and thanks in advance for your help.

Whilst doing my early morning chauffering, taking the Mrs to work, the engine management light came on as my car switched over to run on lpg.
Does the light reset itself or does it have to go in and have the light reset?
Is there anyone in the northeast/durham area have the machine to reset the light?

Any advice would be muchly appreciated

Dave

no probs David........Do you know whether the light will reset itself after 40 or 80 cycles if no further faults are found?

UPDATE:- took the car into my local garage this morning and he plugged in his machine to read codes and reset managemant light..............Machine said it could not communicate with the ECU......What do i try next?

Any ideas?

Dave- SERIOUSLY NEEDED A BEER OR SEVERAL RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!

Hawkeye'll do it

Ive bought a Memoscan U581....cost £45 and has done the job perfectly.

My independant landrover specialist wanted £62 plus VAT to turn it off.....Licence to print money. It took me 10 minutes to go through the fault codes and clear them and switch off the light.

Jobs a good un !!!!!

Well done Dave, one up for the good guys :D:D:D:D:D

Thanks Biglad........It only does engine and transmission at the moment but apparently i can buy a couple of extra cables and discs to cover sls and abs and tc.

Its well worth the money IMO

Sounds good Dave, so what can you actually do with it? Just read stored fault codes or what? Covering engine AND transmission sounds good - so will it read the autobox ECU codes then?

Have you got a link to a supplier please?

I'm still waiting for the Nanocom new model but getting very bored now.........................................................:5bbeatdeadhorse5:

I'm attaching a link that tells you all about it....It does a hell of a lot for the money.
Car Code Reader / Scanner OBD2 / EOBD CAN U581 2010 DTC on eBay (end time 17-Jul-10 11:49:51 BST)

Take a quick look and give me your thoughts.

Hi Dave, just followed your link and also found what I think is the suppliers site.

It seems to be a tool that is predominently or exclusively for petrol engines. Looking at the examples of codes it can read they all refer to V8 petrol LR's - which is great for you !!

Looking at bit deeper, it appears (if I understand correctly) that you can read codes and (just struggling with the english words here:eek:) Cancel codes, but then it goes on to say that if you want to work on any faults found you need the LR Textbook tool. Didn't really understand that tbh.

So, for you great and it did what you wanted it to do - for me no good unfortunately as in part of the info I saw, it will only work on post 2004 diesels, for some reason.

Back to waiting I guess - not in the least bit frustrated now, oh no !!!!!

Cheers mate

Dave

Here is a link to the other site I referred to:

Hi Biglad......ive just investigated you link to the suppliers page....The infomation given is confusing but after reading it a few times it seems to me to say that your have to use Testbook or an equivilent compatible scanning/reading device....The thing has worked for me so i'm happy. It is a shame that it is no good for the TD5.
