I've been a member for a few months now, i have a 1996 4.6 HSE & regularly peruse through the forum, but came accross a problem the other day that I could find no other similar insidents on the this or any other forum.
I went down to Ross on Wye for a week in my caravan with the family, having parked up I started emptying the car, this took ages with the kids running about getting under foot, all the time the doors and tailgate were open.
I went to roll the car down the hill a bit, as i only had to move it a few meters i didn't bother to start the engine I just let it roll.
About 10mins later i tried to start it & just got a click from the solenoid so i assumed i had a flat battery from having the doors open for an hour, even though the dash lights did not dim when i tried to start it. I tried jumping from various sources with different leads, still nothing.
I assumed that the starter was shagged so went & got one from a local breaker. While tring to remove the old one i dissconected the battery struggled on my back under the car in the grass for a couple of hours & failed to get the top bolt undone, then thought bugger it i'll get the garage down the road to do it for me.
I put all the wires back on and connected the battery & got the expected engine disabled message on the dash so i entered the eka and would you beleive it, it started and has continued to start every time since.
Has anyone had anything like this happen to them or is this a normal feature of the immobilizer if the doors are left open too long then the car rolled away instead of started?
