Went to take the kids to school this morning, started the old girl up and all was well for about 10s. Then we got a loud clunk, followed by taping, the engine cut out and locked up. Well myself and 300tdistu stripped down the top end, and found a possi drive screwdriver bit inbedded into the no.3 piston, but also has wrecked the head. Strange thing is last time i did any work on it was 4 months ago when i changed the head gasket. Could it really have been in there that long???????????. Secondly i'm not missing a bits out of my set.
So I'll get some pictures up(or stu will) and you the wise can take alook and see if this engine is fixable and cost friendly, or replace it with another. The car is a 94 300tdi, manual with 189,000 on the clock.
cheers guys and girls
