check with landrover that you have the correct code colin. i reckon its the wrong code you have or its not getting it. if your number was 3456 then you enter 34 and it then only get one of the next digits 1 and then is expecting 4 more turns then it will throw the sequence out similarly if you enter 5 and its expecting 1 turns!!

i can get my code is very quickly these days but at first it took ages for me to get it in, i kept missing turns and the car wasnt getting em all. did you try with door card off?

if its missing just one turn then all yr code is out!!

Hi All

A solution to this problem would be a reset on the BECM. This should then allow the car to be started without the need to enter the EKA code.

We have the facilities to do this, drop my a line if you are interested.

Thanks
Andy

Hi

I am based in Bedfordshire, near Hertfordshire border, about 30 miles up A1 from M25.

Anywhere near you?

If not the BECM reset needs to be done with the BECM out of the car on a bench anyway so we could work via post / courier.

I am charging £100 for this service though, simply to recoup my outlay on the module.

Basically I can unlock your BECM, deactivate the alarm, therefore negating the need for the EKA at this point. I can then leave the BECM unlocked giving anyone with rovacom or similar a greater level of access to your BECM.

Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks
Andy

Hi, Just an update, someone i know checked the EKA code for me and came back with a different number, i tried this code and its just the same problem, i think i shoud invest in a good battery any advice on a good make etc, Andy.R i will send you my BECM when i am sure it is that, ie why isnt it locking me out when trying my code to many times, Gav i will be investigating the door switch in the drivers door. So any advice regarding a good battery (make, price, etc) please Colin

to be honest the battery, so long as it has power enough to actuate central locking, in my experience should be enough to get the code in, i have had the code in and not enough juice to turn engine over!! i would suggest a reset in this case as there is confusion on the correct eka, it may have had a new becm at some point, this may have a different number??? not really sure if the becm would/could change eka codes??? at least a reset/diagnosis would show the correct number and/or clear the becm of eka. i have very little knowledge of the becm so its over to irishrover or andy r for that, if only it was a windows becm i would be fine!! until the becm is sorted i would hold off on the battery. keep the costs low til its running the upgrade the battery if needed.

if your still struggling i can pop over and have a look at it, get another set of eyes on it so to speak but it wont be til the end of the month as ive got work commitments but i dont mind popping over as your only about an hour away and at least then you can be sure its nothing your doing as i doubt we both would make the same errors!!!

stick with it as it'll be worth it in the long run!

Hi, No real progress regarding my starting problems, i have been reading other threads on the subject and about BEcMs.
I bought this Range Rover (Auto) for the engine to put in my other Range Rover (Manual) so is it possible to use the BEcM and Fobs from my Range Rover (Manual) too try and get the RR (Auto) going. Colin

i think me and john went through this on another thread, would be intersting to see if it works. as far as i can locically summise, you would need to swap becm over and put the auto key on the manual fob, then use the eka from the manual to start the auto.

only trouble is if theres a disaster and you fry the becm from the manual, i would much rather swap the engines over but i am comfortable with engines and electikery frightens the crap outa me!!!!!

hi colin,i would do what gav says and put the good engine in your other rangey, then break and sell the rest of it and make a shed load of dosh.be careful over the BECM as it is a temperamental bloody thing,if you put the slightest bit more electrical power through it you will fry it as i know to my cost

if its got cream interior i'd be interested in that!!! especially if you could do a deal whereby i help you out swapping engines over cos i'm fecking skint at the moment and no amount of overtime seems to be getting me anywhere fast!!!

gav on a more serious note, aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh, thats a sharp:D,i have a cream interior,if you can get me a black leather i will do u a swap as i dont mind what colour i have, just not turd brown.
