yo, seriously considering changing my TD defender to a 200 tdi, what is a suitable gear box? is it the LT77 or can i put a R380? which would run best?

also can you put certain 300tdi parts on so that it kicks more power out? i.e intercooler, exhaust etc?

all comments are appreciated
cheers stables

LT77 is the normal box,and should be on your motor now, but is prone to syncro problems - the R380 is meant to be better, but still has its problems, and is more difficult to fit..
The 300Tdi oil cooler is, i believe the same as the 200TDi - or at least sellers on Ebay sell oil coolers as suitable for both.

Aye, for the R380 to fit you'll end up having to move the chassis spacer tube back a few inches (cut and reweld job) and need new props of the correct length. 300 rear axle is a good investment as it gives you disks all round.

200 and 300 both have the same intercooler AFAIK. You can tweak the boost pressure and turn up the fuelling to give you more grunt - do a search on this forum, it's been mentioned loads of times...
