I have recently a 300TDI engine that makes a lot of noise, it sounds like hammering.
When turning off you can still a few clangs. On the video yo also hear releasing the clutch paddle, that sound has a higher pitch.

The engine had no privous problems.
As far as possible it looks like it is coming from the lower part of the engine,
Recently the gearbox LT77 and the LT230 has been replaced by rebuild.
While replacing them also the clutch plate, cover, the fork etc.

In the meanwhile I got use to the silent eurobox.

The first run I thought I wasn’t used anymore to the noise but after about 200 miles driving I started thinking that I had to get me ear protection.
Normally the sound is a little louder than a Defender

Also listen to the few clangs on the end when the engine stops, that worry’s me?
here is something that really is willing to stop.

What have I checked.
Valves OK
Oil and pressure OK
Diesel injectors OK
Waterpump OK
It is not the vacuum pomp that sound is is not the same
Turbo pressure is low but is is not a race monster.
Sound does not change when I pres the clutch.
No power issues while driving

What should I check before I start taking down the gearboxes?
